Just for clarification, this is a customers car, not mine :p

bluemustang 11-02-2009 01:51 PM

this looks like its gonna be a good project.

You guys gonna be smoothing the bay or anything?

Cant wait to see this progress, as I myself am about to start doing the same thing with my car during the winter months here

Yeah, I went back and read... I got all excited seeing the pics and jumped to conclusions... So, the only way to fix this is for YOU to pick up another Fox!!:disturbed

FRED-MATIC 11-02-2009 02:30 PM

The engine bay re vamp was in our original proposal, along with other reccomendations. Customer had to trim back on $, but he just re-canted and bumped up a bit more funds, so it may pan out. I hope, BC our tech has the great expertise in all of that, and we'd rather address it while at paint.

Jim, I have my original Fox (or what I'd call what was left :disturbed ) That, along with bins of parts and boxes upon boxes of new parts await when $ and time allow for the ressurection.

a93stang 11-02-2009 03:04 PM

That will be nice when it's done. I've got a 1988 4 cylinder LX that my folks gave me for my 18th birthday (which was a looong time ago) that I would like to do a 100% original restoration on someday.

Right on, Fred!! :glenn: I didn't realize you still have it...awesome! I may need to hit you up for a left LX tail lens. I bought some replacement lenses and the left side fits like crap!! I have even tried a heat gun to get them to "mold" to the original casing...no bueno... :(

We snapped these pics after removing the rats nest of stock wiring. prior to the car leaving for paint.

FRED-MATIC 12-18-2009 12:49 PM

*UPDATE*

Car is still at paint, but we take into account these kind of delays. That being said we did a bit of work with the shortblock.

New FRPP shortblock
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/100_0930.jpg
New timing Chain & Oil pump
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/100_0936.jpg
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/100_0937.jpg
New timing cover, water pump, and a bit of paint
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/100_0943.jpg

Nothing earthshattering, but in stock trim the customer felt the car was fairly quick. Additionally, the 1st phase of the build dictated a bit of funds in other directions. Still , it will be a nice improvement over where it started from.

Cool. A Bright Chrome Yellow from the 94 would work good. I can't wait to see this thing come together. Long Live the Fox.

Alas, just the front & rear kits entirely. None of the suppliers will break them up, amidst my persuasion :(

What color do you want and would you take some good take-offs or stock seats if I can locate them ?

Yeah man, I'm TOTALLY happy with my stockers... My wife got t-boned back in '95 and they put a used seat (driver's side) that was not in the best condition (stain's that couldn't be removed). Plus, over the years of use, my roll bar rubbed a hole in the side (both seats). The rear seats still look practically brand new... Here is a shot of the the seat...

I thought there were a couple different grays..this one has red pin stripes in it.

That pic they look actually black, and yes there is smoke gray (89 older) and titanium gray ( 90 +)

Yeah, crappy cell phone pic..At least they don't look purple *insert beefcake joke* :disturbed

Yeah, smoke gray should be the color. My wife had titanium in her GT and hers were definitely a lighter gray than mine. I'd love to see what you can find... If worse comes to worse, then I'll purchase the kit and just sell the rears. It just aggravates me because everything else is pretty much new (carpet, headliner, etc.) and these front seats that don't look so hot.. :(

WhiteLX 01-30-2010 06:42 PM

I understand why they don't sell just front seats, but it doesn't make sense for the people with a rear seat delete. The new fabric is different from the original fabric. The new stuff is like the traditional tweed rather than what Ford used, so if you replace just the fronts and leave the rear original, they won't match. Only offering them in sets helps keep people from complaining I guess. :whoknows:

I asked the same when I wanted to buy replacements for my fronts and that was the reasoning I received.
