wow I feel like a retard this morning, I gotta quit with this test... I can't even get this :(
A 720 ml container holds a mixture of red, yellow, and white paint in a 5 : 3 : 12 ratio. How much more red paint than yellow is present in the mixture? tried 100/5 = .05 then 100/3 = .03 then did .05 and .03 x 720ml to get the amount and it is not right :disturbed: |
Quote:
5+3+12=20 720/20=36ml per part 36*12=432ml edit but i could be wrong though i havent done any serious math in 8 years :disturbed |
Quote:
choices are: 20ml 72ml 108ml 180ml 200ml edit- you helped me solve it! It is not 36*12 because first you have to find out red, then yellow, SO 36*5 (red) = 180 36*3 (yellow) = 108 180-108 = 72 :glenn: thanks dude |

look what this is asking me now, fvck all this nonsense A family is moving and has a number of electronic devices in the same packing crate. One of the devices beeps every 8 minutes, another device beeps every 10 minutes, and a third device beeps every 12 minutes. If all the devices beeped together at 3:00 pm, what time will it be when they all beep together next? |
too slow, see edit. :p

he got me on the right track though It is not 36*12 because first you have to find out red, then yellow, SO 36*5 (red) = 180 36*3 (yellow) = 108 180-108 = 72 |

He was way off. I mean 432ml out of 720ml should of been a dead give away that wasnt even close to being right, when they just want the difference of the 2 small parts and you have that much greater 12x in there as well. |

According to an advertisement in an education publication, seven out of ten teachers choose Greenpoint Bank for all of their banking needs. If this statement is true, which of the following must also be true? |
Quote:
so i wasn't even close. |
Quote:
It's right. 108+180+432=720. the question was asking for the DIFFERENCE between the red and yellow, so 180-108=72 |

Thats why I hate shiat like that. The math itself is usually no big deal, but those questions are more reading comprehension then math, making it BS to use in a math class. :biglaugh: |
