Xcal question??

I just bought this from a previous owner who had used custom tunes and it's been returned to stock and unlocked; it is a X3, not the Strategy Flash 3.

In any case, I am trying to find out if anyone knows if you can use it right out of the box? It show "pre-programmed" as an option when selecting the tune...will this work?

Any answers with explanations would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't see why you couldnt just use it as is considering it's returned to stock and unlocked. That being said what exactly is it you want to do? If you want a REALLY great s197 tune for it talk to eric at www.brooksspeed.com. His tunes and customer service are top notch.

It will only work "out of the box" if the computer code it was originally setup for is the EXACT computer code as your car.

If not, then you need a tune sent to it from a reputable tuner (Brenspeed, Bamachips, JDM, etc)

I understand about the custom tunes and matching the computer code, etc. What I was wondering is whether or not you can just the canned tunes on the programmer? It says it is "pre-programmed", but I don't know?

What is the part number of the device? (this should be on the bottom sticker, it will be either 3000 or 3015.) The early X3 devices were actually preloaded and custom together. This was later changed to separate into a custom only and preloaded/custom together.

If the preprogrammed files are on the device you can use them. If the files are there, when you select pre-programmed it will have you turn your key on. If they are not there, when you select this it will say this option is not supported.
