smaller pulley
I just got a 2008 Dan Gurney Saleen mustang and I want to change out the stock pulley on the supercharger its 4 inches. Its suppose to be pushing 6 lbs of boost 465 hp from the factory at the crank. Looking at going with a 3.50 pulley and keep it just under 10 lbs of boost if these engines can take it. Not to familiar with the 3 valves. I had an 04 Mach 1 that pushed 450 to the wheels and i that was the limit because it was stock internals with the procharger. What do you guys think? id like to get at least 450 to the wheels on this one also. i'm guessing its got around 390 maybe 400 to the wheels if that?

put it on and throw it on the dyno if your under 470rwhp ur good to go.

so these engines are good for 500 rwhp? i thought they were for 450

475 is max, 450 is the sweet spot

450rwhp being a good spot is true if you have a good tune. It's VITAL you make sure your air/fuel ratio is where it should be. (around 11.8, no leaner than 12.0 would be best) The first weak link tends to be the rods. If you're 450-475rwhp with a really good tune I wouldn't be worried.

i'm going to see what i can get with a good tune with the stock supercharger pulley if i can get at least 400+ to the wheels with just a tune then i'll keep it there if not i'm looking at getting a smaller pulley for it with a tune.

Either way make sure your a/f is around 11.8. With it dead on 11.8 all the way through wot, you shouldn't have any problems whether you are making 400rwhp or 450rwhp.

The 3.60 pulley is the smallest you can go on the stock fuel pump. You'll need 39lb injectors.
I have this setup on my Supercharged Saleen. The stock belt tensioner seems to be weak on these cars too. I'd recommend the Roush tensioner. Saleen doesn't offer an aftermarket tensioner.

so would this get me near my goal? Obviously going to need a colder plug, new belt, 3.40 pulley from blow by racing, and a tune. I'm thinking 450 if that? It already has the 39lb injectors what kind of pump is in the S197 and is the 450rwhp the max on the stock pump before going to a BAP?

ive got a bud here that is pushing 565 on stock internals..
, he has a motor being built, but yeah.. cammed, procharged and bolt ons.. stock.. no problems yet, he did a 11.7 @ 122..
