... What's even more impressive is that they did it faster than their top-selling PlayStation 2 (PS2) platform did when it was launched. ...

... Blu-ray sales are up 700 percent since the mid-November launch of the PlayStation 3 and other Blu-ray players from Sony, Panasonic and Philips. ...

That looks to be a pretty biased article based on a lot of speculation.

Notes on your bullets:

First, the anticipation of Blu-ray outselling HD-DVD is nothing more than semi-educated guessing or better put: fortune telling. Nobody knows what the future will bring, but they're guessing this on PS3 sales and Blu-ray currently acquiring more new release titles than HD-DVD. This is all subject to change based on these companies actually selling players. I highly doubt people will go out and spend $600 on a PS3 or $1000 on a decent player just to watch Hughey Jackman make magic in high definition. As prices continue to drop on these players, then yes. But as far as I'm aware, HD-DVD players are still cheaper and there are still more of them out there.

Second, selling out and meeting their goal? Eh? What's all this I'm hearing about Sony worrying about actually moving their product and contemplating lowering the price? Click this link to see a picture I believe I snapped well over a month ago at Best Buy. Nobody was near the pile, it was like 1:00pm on a Saturday and PS3s outnumbered 360s by like 3 to 1.

And lastly, 700 percent? That just tells me that they probably weren't selling many to begin with, and the actual introduction of the PS3 just drove that number up. Again, this is a highly speculative and biased article.

I thought all PS3's doubled as grills? That's why people bought them in the first place...

my point is, this is like 2 months after release and there is absolutely no problem finding a PS3... i could give a fvck who wins: blu-ray or hd-dvd, ps3 or 360. all i wanted to know is why he thought blu-ray was better. maybe he knows something i don't. ... i was disappointed.

lick my noob nuts after you finish dangling off of sony's.

But I'm a 360 faig. Only problem is mine's just a few cables and a hard drive while the main console gets repaired by my main man Mr. Bill Gates.

When did the PS3 come out? Also maybe they aren't having the same production issues as others have experienced for prolonged periods of time after a launch? dunno just guessing. Also I hear reports here about how _____ has a ton of PS3's, yet I have yet to see one in a store anywhere around here.

any way, I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere else that blu-ray is now outselling HD-dvd and it has far more support from the industry. speculative or not, that is a fact. Projections are speculative in nature but they usually aren't just numbers someone pulled out their ass when it comes to sales and trends. that ratio could be slightly lower or slightly higher, but it will probably be pretty close to what they say.

Edit: blu-ray is better because of the storage capacity. It is more future ready for whatever they want to do, whereas HD-dvd is not. quality of the video is not an issue, as both are equal.

Dude quit wastering yer breath... These 360 guys will never get it, so why bother
Let them be with their system and let's just have ours for what it's worth. There are a bunch of good games coming out in a few weeks, more than enough to keep me busy throughout the rest of the year

Believe it or not, I have Resistance coming in the mail for the first time this week. Only played the demo and wasn't impressed. I now have a headset and thought I'd give the online version a try after getting some training under my belt. I'm looking forward to it actually
