Update from Phoenix flight school :) (new toy warning)
Just thought I would hop on here since I have some time and let my n1ggas know whats up
![]() Well, I have no clue how long im going to be out here. Im doing my career stuff and getting my Instructor Certifications.... I see myself here in Phoenix until about mid September, then I can either go to Dallas to report on September 18th, or remain here in Phoenix for my last 3 months. After that, I will be "hireable" with an airline except for hour requirements. This is when I will need to build some hours/instruct for a few months until I pick up an airline slot. I may come to work for ATP (the school I am at) which would mean that I would go to Jacksonville Florida for 2 days of training, then select a place where I wish to instruct and possibly end up stuck in Jacksonville until an instructor slot opens up at the location I want (probably Dallas) since it will be close(r) to home. Either way, I am having a super time here. The scenery for flying is just remarkeable. Literally right next to the airport is a filming area for an upcoming movie with Jamie Fox, Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman called "The Kingdom"( http://imdb.com/title/tt0431197/ ) we are not really allowed to overfly it, but we do... I will try and get some cool set pics.... they completely blew up cars/helicopters.... it looks like frekin Iraq down there. I remember seeing a helicopter at the airport with Arabic writing on the side making a VERY fast pass down the runway with a blue helicopter right on its tail chasing it... I thought we were being invaded at first, lol. Turns out, that helicopter with the writing is in the movie and the blue helicopter was filming it for a scene. So I actually saw something that will be in the movie, pretty cool stuff ![]() I am completely immersed in aviation right now, it is seeping through my pores I am so much into it. At the airport all day, every day, then buried nose deep in books until I go to sleep. In fact, I have found myself passing out on/in my book so it is pretty intense. My instructor is a former Police Officer and he is just too cool..... in fact, all my instructors are. We were getting ready to go to bed last night, studying and **** and one of our instructors showed up at our place to hang out. I really like the environment around here and I am really happy about my decision to come here. I treated myself to a few toys today... bought a new aviation headset ( http://www.bose.com/controller?even...x_headset_index ) and a nav/com tranceiver ( http://www.icomamerica.com/products/avionics/a24_a6/ ) That stuff should me in Monday/Tuesday.... Super psyched for the headset especially. Nehow, I typed alot, but alot of stuff to catch up on I guess.

About two months before I moved here I lost all my avionics in class "D", had to do the entire emergency operations thing, transponder 7600, rocking wings, light guns, etc..... I told myself the next day that I was going to go get a handheld but never did. I am getting pretty deep into this business now so I FINALLY convinced myself to just go ahead and do it before that situation arose again. I also hope to go visit your fathers work if I am burning time cross country soon. I went up in a tour of our tower here and go to spend some time while they were running stuff.... It was super neat to see everything at work. Really put me more at ease dealing with ATC having been there and meeting them ![]()
