I also got a BSEE at the same time. Engineering been berry gud to me. |

It took me 5 years, plus a half summer. Kinda funny, all my 'advisors' said "if you're gonna spend the extra year, specialize, and get a masters". Everyone in industry said "talk to us when you graduate". But it was a good time for jobs, recruiters came to campus. And it was a different time, computer engineering was just a new offshoot of EE - hint: the PC wasn't out yet.
Every so often, I wish I had gotten advanced degrees, as I've seen those people advance more. It's not always about what they studied, but the process of having to get a phd teaches a mindset that's useful in certain fields (research). I once worked in a department of 12 people; the technician, jr engineer and myself were the only ones without postgrad work. Keep working at it, we need good people to fill jobs here at home, so they don't all get sent to Bombay. |
