Plethora Of Pumpkins Makes Jack-O'-Lantern Record

BOSTON -- It was an uncommon sight at the Boston Common. The spirit of Halloween lit up the historic park over the weekend, with more than 30,000 glowing jack-o'-lanterns. Organizers are claiming a new Guinness record for the most jack-o'-lanterns in one place. The previous mark had been set in 2003, when nearly 29,000 carved and lit pumpkins decorated the annual Pumpkin Festival in Keene, N.H. Organizers of the Boston event said their pumpkin blowout raised $250,000 for Camp Sunshine, for children with life-threatening illnesses  Plethora?   |
