Question about helping a hurt bird on the road.

Ok so coming home from some errands the gf sees a hurt bird on the road...just before our parking garage. I pull over and go back to check on it...it's a pigeon I think and trys to fly away (it's wings open but it can't get airborne) but can't. It gets off the middle of the road trying to get away but I grab it when it gets to the gutter...I take him over to a garden outside our complex and put him in there under a fern tree with lots of bushes around him. He didn't move after I put him down. He should have good shelter there and be out of site. I may go down and check in a few hours when i leave to see if he's still there.

If he still can't really fly (is hurt and will die slowly alone) should I just kill him so he doesn't suffer? The gf says absolutely no to the humane killing option (I phrased it as knocking his head on the curb - i'm sure that didn't do much to sway the argument)...so we just leave it to die slowly?

If its a pigeon flying doesn't really matter as long as he has a place to eat and shelter. So it can live a somewhat normal life if you put it in a park or something

He didn't look very mobile...I hope a cat doesn't find him. I hope he makes it.

Maybe i'll take some bread down.

If you're going to kill it, just pull it's head off.

Believe it or not, that's the most "humane" way to kill a bird

I would worry first about taking a shower and spreading neurosporin on you hands.

Birds have narrtually different species of mites and lice on differeent parts og thier feathers and diggerent wings. So yea... dozens of types of **** from touching them.

Think rats times 60.

if theres a humane society near you give them a call, if its hurt usually they'll come check it out and take care of it till it can be released back into the wild

more than likely it will die or be eaten by another wild animal though

If it were me, I'd put it in a cage and feed/nurse it till it was well.

But then again, I'm a nutbag when it comes to rescuing animals.
