Wwmwd?? college question
So heres my dilemma. I want a new career. I've been looking into college courses online for animal science/ range science.
Since I'm an Illinois Veteran, I can go to school in IL. for free, and collect my GI bill. So basically, I can go to school for free, and collect about 2g's a month as a paycheck. I can't find any good schools in IL for animal science. The top schools being Clemson and the University of Phoenix. I've thought about taking my required classes here at a junior college, like math, history, english, etc, then transfering to a major university once the required classes were done, and I started taking my electives. But I would have to pay to go to an out of state school. Ughh, I don't know what to do. ![]() Last edited by Pearl_LX : 11-28-2006 at 12:33 PM. |

Any thing else you`re interested in other than animal science
Any chance of the school offering it in the not too distant future ![]()

I'd try and see if there is anything else you might be interested in that is offered in-state.

I've come to the point where I'm not going to settle for anything less than what would make me the happiest. Granted, it may not be the most lucrative field as far as pay goes, but I would be VERY happy doing it. As far as local schools go here, there are none really, and the ones I've found probably would not transfer credits. I want to do well at the junior college and get into one of the best universities that offer the program. |

ya, it just sucks that the thing I want to get into is really only offered out-of-state, when I could just plain rape the GI bill while going to school in IL for free. |

It would be a real SOB to pass up all that free education money.

oh, I agree 100%. Just took me a few years to realize it. I guess what it comes down to is that I will just have to pay to go to a school that I want to, weather it be Clemson or U. of Phoenix. I can always just take the basics at a local college for free, and then just pay for the other portion at a major university. |

in a way, yes. It is required to be a vet, but I don't want to get into that much of it. I'm just not that smart. |

So nobody has an opinion as what to do? Does that sound like a good plan?

Take whatever you can locally for free but make sure it'll transfer to whereever you end up. No sense in having to pay for some of school if you don't have to.

Thats what I'm thinking. I'm just wondering If I'm missing anything as far as info goes, since I've never been to college or anything. MW always knows all the loopholes and whatnot. ![]() |

Always plan B as well. Just start taking the core requirements needed for a Bachelors, and you will do some electives as well, then you might discover something else you enjoy as well that you can wrap up in school.
