friends engine combo. let me know what u think
my buddy has a 91 gt with long tube headeders, o/r H pipe and catback, 3.73's, cold air intake, 70mm TB, and a shortthrow. he just bought ported stock heads, complete minus the rockers, and an edelbrock performer intake for 350 bucks. so now he wants to put all this stuff on but i told him im not doing it unless he gets a cam at the same time. hes one of those kids that know almost nothing about cars so i had to do the research for him. the car is still going to be a daily driver so it cant be too big so i figured just an E-cam would be good for his situation. its got 282/282 durations and .498/.498 lift. and its designed for 2,000 to 5,500 RPM so its power band is right with that of the intake. the dude also said he installed heavier valve springs which might help it rev a little higher but he still has a stock bottom end.
so heres my questions: do u guys think this is a good cam choice considering his situation, and the intake is designed for idle to 5500 rpm? is there a quick and easy way to test the valve springs to see how heavy they are? is there anything else i should do while i have the engine pretty much torn down? i was thinking timing chain but i might be missing something else. and what type of power and 1/4 mile times do u guys think? im guessing somewhere arount 250-270rwhp and mid to low 13's with nice tires... ![]()

it depends on the heads port job... when i hear stock ported heads i just think some kid took a dremel tool to them and they flow the same as stock prety much so in that case stock cam... and leave the stock heads on it

I would go with a TFS stage 1, over the e cam. i have heard of alot of people going from the E cam to the TFS and having good results.

I wouldn't bother with those heads unless they have a sheet showing flow rates from a bench test to document any improvements.
