Late For Meetings..

just curious.....all of you out there working at places where meetings
are a regular thing. do they happen on time usually??

the place i work at now, i am always the ONLY one who shows
up on time, and in the right meeting room. lol, many times the
person who called it, doesn't show up!! is this a corporate america
thing or a my company thing??? i've worked at other places that
most people were on time, and those who were late were given
the evil eye by the organizer.

Meetings don't start until I arrive. Therefore, I'm never late.

Where I work everyone is pretty good. Might have 1 or 2 come in a few minutes late, but most are there on time.

yeah, we have that guy here too...i give him 10 minutes past, then i leave.
he pitched a fit a few weeks ago at a follow up meeting...i told him at my
salary i don't think the board wants me (or anyone else) sitting around waiting
on people who can't figure out a clock. i got the "i'm very busy...." reply.

i said; "we're all busy, but only some of us are late, time is money."

gotta love self important fools...

I work with a large team of IT professionals (IT Security) spread all over the world. There are occasions that I have to attend meetings outside of normal work hours (like 11 PM or 5 AM) and would be VERY pissed if nobody showed up.

True professionals make every attempt to be on time to their meetings but I can understand an occasional conflict or missed appointment but it should not be as often as you describe.

I work from home most days, so my meetings are mostly conference calls on the telephone, and virtual meetings using a computer based program, where you call in on the phone, and log into the meeting to sse shared stuff on the screen.

Most meetings start within 5 minutes of the begin time. Often folks go from meeting to meeting, so a few minutes to end and then use the bathroom, and then join the next call is OK.

During face to face meetings, 5-10 is normal, unless there are folks from Latin America. For what ever reason, more often than not, they are 15-30 minutes late.
