Liddell/Rampage 2 set for May 26th

It has been rumored for weeks in the “Rumors” section of MMAWeekly.com, but the rematch between Chuck Liddell and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been verified for May 26 at UFC 71 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jackson’s manager and trainer, Juanito Ibarra, confirmed the bout to Greg Savage of Sherdog.com.

The two first fought in the semi-final round of the Pride Grand Prix in 2003. Jackson ended up taking home the win when he took Liddell to the mat in the second round and ground and pounded him into a referee stoppage.

The rematch has been in the works ever since Zuffa LLC, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s parent company, acquired Jackson’s contract in a buyout of select assets of the now-defunct World Fighting Alliance. Jackson made his UFC debut with a knockout of Marvin Eastman at UFC 67.

In the Octagon following his second win over Tito Ortiz, on December 30, 2006, Liddell told Joe Rogan, “I can’t wait to get that rematch,” when questioned about Jackson. It looks like the UFC light heavyweight champ will finally get his wish.

What's the story? It's lack luster...

Silva MAY not be able to fight...it'll come down to a few days notice...

Bunch of names and fights I'm personally not excited about, at all.


Arona / Sokoudjou just because he landed a lucky shot against Big Nog @ PRIDE 33...guess we'll really see what he's made of.

Hunt vs Butterbean (rumor) should be a slug fest and a half. Good thing I'm a huge Hunt fan


As it stands right now, all I care about is whether or not PRIDE officially sold to the Fertittas or not...rumors are strong right now, guess we'll have to wait.

This is the end of PRIDE as we know it

i wish it wasnt so soon, i think rampage can beat liddell like he already did, but needs another fight in the cage with a weak fighter first

Would you scroll up and watch their first fight? Then, if you have time, watch the rest of Rampage's fights...you'll quickly see WHY this guy may have the magic that puts Chuck in his place...


...and it's called the SLAM. You can't avoid it...you don't need takedown defense when you're being picked up by someone like you're 5 lbs...

I'd really like to see Rampage beat Chuck and he has the tools to do it..I just want to see a good fight which I'm sure it will be
