Thumbs up A few pictures from the last trip.

haha, and this is literally just about it. The plane I had was a total POS, so no time to really take pics while at the plane cause I spent about every minute trying to keep the damn thing working, then we broke in Antigua which during most of that while waiting for parts to come in was spent in a drunken haze at the beach burning to a crisp at an all inclusive resort. Just didnt tote the camera around hardly at all.

view from my room.

The beach @ 7am when we got there the first time. The bars didnt open till 10:30am, but one of the pilots sweet talked one of the hotel people into slipping us a bottle of rum out of the bar giving them the excuse that we've been working all night and might be asleep by the time the bars opened. The work part was true, but no one was going to sleep, in the room anyways. We just wanted to get started early.

taxiing past the main terminal down in Uruguay. Uruguay is right below Brazil if you are wondering.

If I wasnt so wasted the whole time and had a waterproof camera/actually carried it around, there would of been a TON!
About the whole time there all I had on me was a bathing suit, sunglasses, flip flops, room key, smokes and a lighter, and doublefisting beers or cocktails

We got to know a SHIATLOAD of people staying at that hotel thanks to one of our big time social butterfly will flirt with any and every chick he sees pilots . Half the crew hooked up over there including myself from it all too.

edit---and vacationing british girls are NOT shy, holy shiat! I've never seen anything like it. They were about as bad as all the hookers and stuff in Thailand about being blunt and up front with what they wanted.

Jolly Beach. Jolly Harbour is a separate hotel on the other side of the island I think. http://www.jollybeachresort.com/

I wouldnt pay to go on vacation there, but it was great for our purposes. The beach and grounds were nice, the rooms werent. Most the entertainment was really lame, but with meeting all these people + free alchohol, that was entertainment enough in itself. Alchohol sucked, crappy beer, cheap ass generic liquor, half ass cocktails, etc all in the same little bitty 4 or 6 oz plastic cups. It was free though, and anything involving liquor was made really strong, and they didnt limit you to 1 cup at a time so cant complain too much I guess. Often when we were still in full swing when the bars closed at midnight, we would always get them to line up like 6 to 10 beers each right before they closed to keep us going awhile longer. During the normal operating hours, I was almost always doublefisting. Food was pretty hit or miss. Some stuff was really good, while most of it wasnt that great at all.

Not there, for sure. Like I said, great for us since it was paid for and all, but def not worth the money otherwise. It was a lot of fun cause we had a good crew and met tons of chicks from all over the place, so the people I was with and met pretty much made the good time. Otherwise I would of been pretty disappointed. Cruises are the best way to do the carribean IMO with better accomodations although a lot smaller (typical mid range hotel rooms in the carribean on most islands usually ARE NOT what most americans are accustomed to and would make motel 6 seem nice), better food, different scenery and places to go every day, etc. If you want an all inclusive sit at the same beach and get wasted for a week kind of place, you really gotta go for the high end cause those are really one of those get what you pay for deals.

oh yeah, and if was to go on vacation in the carribean on my own and not go on a cruise, I would start by looking for something on St. Martin/St. Maarten. That's the best and nicest island down there IMO.

I'm not assigned to any particular tail number. We get assigned to missions, then end up with whatever tail happens to get put against that mission. Sometimes they are good planes, sometimes they are problem childs. There is just so much to a machine that big that some just end up better then others, they all have their own set of quirks and issues, it's almost like how people have different personalities and stuff. Just like people, pretty much all of us that work on em have our favorite tail numbers and ones we hate. The whole reason I'm there is to keep the plane flying and hopefully on time, so when the planes behave, I have relatively little work to do, just routine stuff. When they dont behave, I get very busy and have to do anything I can to keep the plane going with what I have available. It's inevitable that things eventually break enough where you cant get needed systems working without having to change parts, at which point you get stuck and have to call for parts and/or equipment and people to get sent down to fix the plane, as was the case on this trip. It just happened to be in a good spot so none of us were really bummed about the plane breaking.
