Question about those intersection cameras.

Will I get a ticket for going through on yellow

Going to lunch with my co-worker today and he said the camera flashed when I went by. The light was yellow though. It was yellow even as I was driving under it.

Your co-worker was likely full of crap. Those things are freakin' bright. If it flashed, you'd see it. It has been my belief that the eye that watches the intersection only comes on after the light has turned red, and then it monitors the white line at the front of the intersection. It will only take a picture of a car that crosses the line AFTER the light is red. If you're already in the intersection, you should be safe.

I had to go to court to fight one (which actually wasn't my fault... I was in the left lane, stppoed. The guy in the right lane ran the light, but they sent the ticket to me... It got thrown out of court). Anyway, there were a number of peopple before me and everyone of them that had a legitimate ticket was before the white line in the first photo, and then into the intersection or through it in the second. None started already in the intersection.

Cliffs- Don't lose sleep over it. Your safe.

stopping on the white line is violation here as well, it's called 'blocking the crosswalk'. don't let the camera catch you either way.

the flash comes on twice; first when the light immediately turns red, then again in a second. if you're already passed the intersection by the time the camera flashes a second time, you're safe(key is to floor it if you're in the middle and think you may not make it).

I've read that it calculates your speed coming up to the light. If the light turns red, and your going too fast to stop, it triggers the camera to take a picture.
