compare im what way? Yes, you will get more for your money with other manufacturers. However, there is a reason Canon fetches a higher price. It's because they take better pictures.

If you're happy with it, then ok. It's nice that is has the 3" screen and image stabilization. I went with the canon SD700 over the SD630 because I'd rather have image stabilization over a 3" screen. Honestly, you can see just fine with a 2.5" screen unless you have bad vision. The 8 magepixels is way overkill. Most people get caught up in the megapixels thinking more is better. It really doesn't matter when all you are printing are small pictures.

the actual construction of the two was important. the sony seems to be more durable. the canon i was looking at was the sd800, it looked great online, but once i had it in my hands, it was very cheap looking and feeling. the chrome/metal looking latches and charging port doors are plastic and held on by plastic tabs. the power button is plastic. the zoom button is plastic. the 3 in. screen is definitely cool, but in no way the reason i bought the sony. i am the pickiest bastard going, it takes me forever to pick something out, i hate that i'm like that. i've been camera shopping for 2 friggin weeks now, and i've reviewed nearly every canon and sony, and a few olympus. this was the one i found best suited for me for quality, performance, and durability.

believe me, i don't buy cameras often. the last one i bought was a canon off of LionsDenStang about 3 years ago or so.

it is for me and the fiance, so it will be used frequently and will be our only camera purchase for years to come.
