i'm honestly kind of stumped after seeing it.

they really went for a lot more comedy in this one, was kinda jarring at first but then you were just like 'alright whatever it's gonna be goofy'. humor culminated in the jazz scene which i was just like wtf is happening but loved haha.

anyway, as to the rest of the movie, theres the usual cliches and played out plotlines, aunt may is completely predictable, does the same thing talks about uncle ben, makes peter feel like sh1t, starts to cry, and then gives an inspirational statement.

harry became a much better character i thought, though in no way did i want to see that much of his character. he had some good parts being real evil though.

sandman was sadly the best villain in the movie. actually somewhat powerful and the guy from wings actually seemed powerful as him.

venom - looked great but i thought was the biggest dissapointment of the film. really ruined the movie for me. there was really no buildup of character or scenes where venom really seemed that powerful/insane/crazy/murderous etc. lots of missed opportunities to make some cool scenes with him (could have shown him fvcking up police officers, etc) instead they just showed news footage of officers bleeding. really wanted him to be more badass, and really i just wanted to say "holy sh1t venom is insane" never got to say that though. really didn't think there was enough venom. also topher grace pissed me off in the beginning. obviously i'm used to him as eric forman, but him joking around and his sarcastic attitude made me feel like they lifted him straight out of that 70's show.

ending - meh. nothing we haven't seen before, lots of falling through the air with mid-flight kicking as they are falling, lots of hitting against pipes or beams. also didn't like the cheesiness in the peter/harry relationship at the end. just didn't have enough drama or tension for me, seemed just like they were going through the motions. i actually got pissed off with the final final scene, cause i suddenly realized "this is it".


overall - was jarred by how much comedy they put in, but then said what the fvck and started to like it, went with all the cheesiness, etc. got excited for the final fight scene and then was hugely let down. lots of parts i was just like "why did they put that in, or damn they should have done another take for that scene". also lots of laughing around the theater at parts that you're not supposed to laugh at. also found myself rolling my eyes at how stereotypical characters were or some of the dialogue.

to me the worst movie of the series, though the first two were easily 8+/10 each, especially in the world of comic book movies. just wasn't polished as much as the first two, and maybe they threw in one too devote enough time to any one of them to be effective (namely VENOM).

obviously to much less critical film watchers some will absolutely love it. i never really expected that much out of it, since i knew there would be lots of rehashing of old stuff and i always doubted how cool venom would be. once i started to see venom and what not I got excited for the final battle where everything culminates and it ended up just pissing me off. felt i could have seen something amazing and just got crap.

5-6/10 though number rating doesn't mean much, came away dissapointed and pissed off at what could have been.


cliffnotes: can't believe MJ died in the first 15 minutes, aunt may killed sandman for revenge, and spiderman and venom spent the last 15 minutes of the movie making out. Raimi dropped the ball on this one.

I will await to make my own Judgement. However, it seems like I may feel the same way about this one as I did the third X-Men film.
