g15s are money, they have a display in WoW that shows all sorts of stats and stuff
I ended up smashing a fist-sized portion of keys on the center, though, so i opted for the G11 (that keyboard without the screen) for the second go-around

What's the point of a nice mouse/keyboard? I'm not into computers, but what does a fancy/expensive one do that a cheap one doesnt? Genuinely curious...

keyboard- the G15 (which I'm typing this on) has a very nice, quality feel to it (VERY SOLID), the keys feel nice and rebound very nicely, etc (compared to a cheap keyboard). its one of those things you just kind of have to try. the G15 is special though because it has the 18 "G" keys on the left, which you can make macros with and bind to various functions in games like WoW. For instance- my favorite one is mapping "G12" to dismount. It also has an LCD screen which displays a bunch of different information. I have mine set to show CPU/RAM usage when im on the desktop. When I'm playing WoW I either use the WoW functionality to show my stats (or in the battlegrounds- the score, my kills, etc) or I use the Ventrilo functionality to show who is talking in Vent. There are a couple sites that have a bunch of different programs for the LCD. As for a quality gaming mouse- again, no comparison to cheap mice. a good mouse like the G5/G7 (I have the latter) uses an actual laser instead of an LED, takes a more detailed "picture" for better tracking, etc. G7 mouse: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/p...CONTENTID=10716 G15 keyboard: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/p...CONTENTID=10717 (and of course, those are MSRP prices. you can get them both for much less)

Thanks mang I've had my open-box-special Wal*Mart HP for 4 years now...replaced the monitor and speakers...but still have a janky keyboard and mouse. Thinking about replacing/possibly upgrading them (nothing too fancy). Then get a new computer when the time is right. Right now my space bar is hella loose, a few buttons don't work, and it's just really old and dirty.

As far as mice are concerned, accuracy is the bottom line. I have 3 mice I use, a cheap Logitech Click! from walmart (optical), a Microwhore mouse (laser), and a Logitech MX1000 (laser cordless), also used all sorts of gaming mice, copperhead, g7 etc etc. The MX1000 is 10x more precise than either of the other 2 I have (When I bought it it was selling for $100+). I also have the matching MX5000 keyboard, and I absolutely love it. Anyway, expensive mice = more precise, more reliable, and generally feel better in your hand. My MX1000 is a beast. The mouse ![]() Expensive keyboards offer more functionality, better button feel, and are usually alot quieter button sounds. My MX5000 has a display screen (basic stuff, room temp, CPU load, mem usage, etc) Also acts as a calculator that outputs to notepad. Programable butons like the G15 (not as many). Also has touch sensitive media controls (play, FF, RW, pause, stop, volume, and zoom). Like anything electronic you get exactly what you pay for.
