Pictures from the SCCA Regional Race at Lime Rock

This was my first time ever trying to do the whole "blurred background" with the car in focus thing. In fact, i've never even taken a camera out of automatic mode before, so this was the first time i've ever played with shutter speed and aperture. It was a fun learning experience.

I think i had the shutter speed too slow on a few, that or I am just not good enough at matching the speed of the camera sweet with the speed of the car. Either way here are the pictures..

This is the only picture I got of my brother out there, he came down on the downhill turn, put a wheel off and then clipped the tires. Broke the front left suspension and we called it a day because the frame needed some welding.

He's the rear car

here's a closeup of the car

This is a formula Atlantic, it won the opened wheel class- fastest car of the day, 52 second laps.

(see wowak, this is a thousand times more fun than autocross)

This is the overall GT class winner- GT1 Corvette

The number on the side? That's the age of the driver, every year he updates the number to match his year. Who is this amazing driver at 82 years old?

No other than Paul Newman

I hope I can walk at age 82, let alone still win races in a sick car.

Yeah you're probably better off in auto mode for some of those pictures. Action shots look good tho.

Yea, still learning- I didn't edit any of these in photoshop either. Could probably pull some sick pictures out if I felt like cropping and singling out single cars and what not, but i'm too lazy for that since I don't know anyone in the pictures.

Can't wait to take more, it was a blast trying to get the perfect angle and blurr

Full manual is a hassle most of the time for me. Try the aperture or shutter priority modes. The panning shots came out nice but slightly underexposed in my eyes. Anyways what cam and lens did you use?

You need a serious sensor cleaning. Look at the black spots in teh same place in your pics.

Nice first time with the panning shots. I haven't shot SCCA in a while but it takes a lot of practice to get good consistent shots.

yea I didn't see the spots until I got home and put the pictures on my computer. I don't have any proper maintenance stuff so I wasn't wiping the lenses down or anything before I got out there.

take off the lens. You see that mirror that goes up and down when you press the shutter? The sensor is under there. I'll look for some links. Hang on.

There are several (and full of debate) ways of cleaning the sensor. I've used a high quality art brush for a while with success. I don't feel comfortable with the copper hill method or paying $100 for a visible dust brush. But, I use similar methods to the dry brush technique.
