Me vs. Lamborghini Gallardo....

Well, got my first chance ever to run with a true exotic tonight. Was coming home from a quick cruise and had just gotten on the freeway to come home. I usually give it a good run through 2nd and 3rd when I get on this stretch of road, and then cruise on home. Just after getting over into the left lane, I notice a low, wide car with bright HIDs coming up in the same lane a couple cars back. No doubt an exotic. At first glance, I thought it was a Murcielago, but when it got into the next lane over and started approaching, I saw it was a black gallardo with a deep tint - looked killer.

Immediately, I felt the adrenaline surge as I looked ahead and saw the road was totally clear for at least a half mile. I don't generally run on the street (most cars aren't much fun to run), so if I was gonna kill anyone, it would be myself .

Don't know if he noticed me at first, but as he passed on my right (me at about 45-50, him maybe at 60), I dropped it into 3rd and got behind him, signalling my intentions. Well, he immediately got on it (sounded heavenly), but I was ready, so I leaned on it, immediately halting his pull, and gradually pulling back to his bumper. He tapped the brakes and moved over a lane and as I got alongside him he jumped again, so I got back on it. Same result - he pulled due to the jump, but I immediately crept back within a few seconds. We ran out until about 130 (I was sh!tting the whole time thinking if we pass a cop, bye bye license ), and while I know those cars are beasts up top, I had plenty left myself, and was still (gently) pulling as we shut down.

As we came up on the trafic ahead, he rolled down the window (dark a$$ tint :biglaugh) and it was an east indian dude, probably between 25-28, with a hot chick in the passenger seat. What added to the whole experience is he gave me a total thumbs up (which I of course returned) and said he couldn't believe my car ran with him like that. He also said my car sounded like an animal (he could hear the blower over the sound of his own engine ). I asked if he was going all out and he said "fvck yeah!". Car also had the e-gear (paddle shift), and you could tell. When I had to shift, his car kept right on going......fvcking imperceptible shifts......but fortunately, I had the grunt to pull back.

Anyways, I'm super stoked from the experience - adrenaline's still pumping. Just wanted to share.

Oh, and as for that "stock gallardo vs. ~500 rwhp cobra" video many of us have seen floating around where the gallardo totally rapes the snake from a roll - we now know how accurate that footage was

Cliffs: ran a Gallardo and reeled him in on two consecutive runs to 130.

I never disputed that fact - and he didn't seem to be all stuck up on it. Next time, read.

Oh, and it still felt pretty nice reeling in an exotic

I enjoy what I do for a living

And if, for example, he had said "I'm a software engineer", I don't particularly have any interest/talent in that area. And like the odds are that great that you're gonna just pick up a job in a similar field and make Gallardo-owner coin

How important are rivalry games to Meyer? After his Gators unleashed Saturday's 45-15 Soak at Doak on the soggy, groggy Seminoles, Meyer was asked about being 11-1 in games against Florida's three biggest rivals — Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee. Meyer smiled slightly and corrected his inquisitor.

"We're 12-1," he said. "We count Miami, too."

Thanks - definitely the most memorable/worthwhile run I've ever had in any car.

And as I said, I was pulling on him each time he took the jump (we never honked off, so I had to follow his lead). Had there not been traffic up ahead (and no thoughts of cops), I have no doubt I could have slowly passed him by 150ish - I had recovered 2-3 carlengths between 60-130 mph, and was basically right alongside him.
