Vista-inspired weirdness, computer question

This probably has some dumb answer that I'm just ignoring, so I bet everyone will get to laugh at me soon.

Anyway, if I open a particular folder in Windows Explorer, it gives me a listing of two files with (relatively) old "modified by" dates.

If I open that same folder up in Firefox, it lists 5 files, and the two files in question have much more recent (and appropriate) "modified by" dates.

A screencap of what's going on.

Furthermore, if I add a file to the Explorer version of the folder, that file doesn't show up the Firefox version.

WTF is going on and how can I make it stop being stupid? I need to cheat at this game, damnit

Also, I do have it enabled to show hidden files and such.

You got me there. Make sure "Hide protected operating system files" is unchecked, but even then that doesn't do much besides hide certain directories and files.

try running this string of commands

(open command prompt)[Windows Key] + R

at the prompt type in cmd

okay now type this

cd "C:\Program Files\GameHouse\Insaniquarium\userdata"
attrib * -h -s -a -r

make sure to follow each command with the [Enter] key.

also you should be able to just copy the above commands to a bat file and then run that file.

Why are you downloading 3 versions? all you need is 1 and the key that allows you to choose what version you want. (all vistas are on every cd. the key is the picker of what one you get, unless your getting some cut down for size versions or something)

Plus pirating Vista is going to be a PITA, especially if you ever want to keep it current with updates.

There are plenty of cracks that allow updates just fine. Takes about 10 seconds and a reboot.

There are other cracks that will activate and validate your copy. No worries about the timer starting.

Mines worked great with no intervention. If it stops working sometime then I might change it.

MS will fix the flaw. And you'll need another crack. Its going to be a never ending game.

Granted, had work not bought me a copy of Ultimate I'd probably be putting up with the hacked version. haha

I can live with that. It's a small price to pay when the alternative is spending way too much for the wife and daughter to have "the one where you can change the task bar color".

The way this crack works would be tough for MS to accurately detect so I don't think it'll be anytime soon before I need to start looking.

The only reason why my wife has Vista is because she bought a new laptop. I'm only using it at home because my copy was free. Otherwise we'd still be using XP at our house for a long time.

Whats the name of the crack? I wanted to setup a virtual image under Linux but didn't want to deal with re-arming it constantly...
