Just bought a Jet Ski, GP1300R

After I totalled the Cobra, I was planning on using as little money as I could on on small truck. I ended up spending $4100 after tax and title on a 99 ford ranger with 90,000 miles in good condition.

I was pretty much completely sold on using the money to get a sportbike, but know that I am not the kind of person that needs a sportbike, I would be dead in 2 weeks in jacksonville traffic.

So, being that I live at the beach i decided to get a jet ski.

I walked into the dealership after class yesterday checked out the skis and told the salesman, I wanted the GP1300R, I can almost guarantee he thought I was wasting his time ( a 19 year old kid buying an 11,000 jet ski), but after they found out I had a 759 credit score, they completely changed their attitude towards me.

And by the way before any of you go, I can't believe you spent that money, blah blah blah, I will be riding this thing probably 2-3 times a week. I live off A1A and will probably be out riding any chance I get.

you can divide that in half, with the ensuing towing.

Nice.

Still, this thread needs a poll, so we can take bets on how long before the ski is totaled

That looks like a wave runner. I always thought a jet ski was a stand up machine, which is about 100 times harder to ride.

I only have to tow the ski about 3-4 miles and it only weighs probably 1000 lbs on the trailer. I have thought about paying the extra money and storing it at a marina, but I really would rather save the money and take care of the thing myself.

no

jet ski is brand specific to kawasaki

though it is also a catch all term, just like waverunner, pwc, etc.

skis are easy to launch. better off keeping it out of the water when you're not using it, can take care of it better.

If I ever moved to FL, after buying a house a jet ski would be next on my list.

interesting, learn something new everyday.
Kind of like Kleenex. Everyone calls them that, but that's just the brand. They are really tissues.

Thanks mane! I had no idea that jet ski was brand specific.

And while I bought it for my own fun, you guys have no idea how many girls have asked me to take them out on it. It is ridiculous. I know a lot of people at my school, and I don't know ANYONE who has their own jet ski.
