Thumbs up Whats a good way to cook salmon with 'normal' ingredients?

By normal, I mean things around the kitchen. I don't want to go to the market for anything, but I have a couple salmon fillets that I should cook before they get old.

Ideas?

Unique and "What can i cook with regular stuff" dont mix well.

I made some smoked salmon last weekend. Topped the filet with lemon juice, honey, s&p, bay leaves, pepercorns, and rosemary on a cedar plank.

it was unique - and came out tasting awesome.

I can't remember the recipe offhand, since I'm at work right now, but my mom makes killer bbq salmon with brown sugar and a bit of dry mustard as the main ingredients. Sprinkled on top.

Onion and garlic on Salmon don't mix. Honey is awesome on salmon as well as brown sugar mixed with some water spread on it while cooking.

this is very similar, if not the same as one of my favorites for salmon.

http://www.coastangler.com/fishing/...ro_salmon.shtml

Ingredients:

1 clove garlic
1 cup loosely packed cilantro leaves
5 tablespoons olive oil
juice of one lime
salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
2 pounds salmon fillet -- skin on
1 large ripe tomato -- seeded and chopped

Prep:

Preheat oven to 400¡ F. Place the garlic, cilantro, 2 tablespoons of the
olive oil, the lime juice, salt, and pepper in a blender or a food processor.
Processuntil creamy.

Brush a baking pan or sheet with the remaining oil and
place thesalmon in it.

Spread the cilantro mixture on the salmon, scatter the
tomato over it, and sprinkle with a little more salt and pepper.

Bake, uncovered,
until the salmon is done (peek in between the layers of flesh with a thin-bladed
knife), 12 to 15 minutes. Serve immediately.

to bbq fish you either need a fish basket for the grill, or planks. Dont try cooking it directly on the grill

Worried about flaking? I do it all the time without a fish basket. I do use an alder plank occasionally. The only time it's kind of nice having a cubic ass ton of alder on your property is for grilling planks or smoking chips.

hermm do it all the time with red snapper....

Just need to coat the grill with a little oil..

though you can also do with coated aluminium foil that has holes in it too..

If you have a big filet it probably wouldnt be much of a problem, just gotta be careful pulling it off - but the smaller salmon steak type pieces would probably fall apart.

Soy sauce
Brown Sugar
Sesame Oil

-or-

heat some orange juice in a pan, add a little honey and reduce it to a glaze. Add some ginger to either one of these ideas if you have any. Lemon zest will work too.
