Work is requiring me to go pick up a Treo 700wx or a Motorola Q that supports Windows Mobile since we live and breathe Outlook and Exchange. I want to go grab an iPhone, but if its not going to support Active Sync anytime soon I can't do it. We will not open IMAP port and IMAP is not Active Sync. Any idea or am I just screwed and have a get a POS Treo/Q?

I didn't know they were planning to do so. I live and breath Outlook, too. And that was the main reason why I'm looking at the HTC Kaiser instead of the iPhone. But if it does get ActiveSync, then I'll definately go with the iPhone.

Look ahead, there I am.

Windows Mobile = Activesync. No way an Iphone will ever get it.

doubtful it'll be coming anytime soon - at least for your time frame.
however, the Q isn't that bad, I've actually grown to like it. I only use it for email and it does that quite well (and as a modem for the laptop when I'm out). -d |

I think I'm going to pick up a Q then. I had a Treo before and its just too big. I read on a blog that Apple had licensed ActiveSync, but it may be full of ****. If Apple wasn't so secretive about everything and released some info then I would be all over it. Ohh well, Q today for me. Thanks |

thats the best part of the Q - barely notice you have it on you. one trick is to set it to either evdo only or cdma only (depending on where you are and what signal is present) -- makes a huge difference on the Q not constantly searching for both signals, especially in fringe areas. ##* from the dial menu -- and it brings up a menu to select the option (vs. older moto's which had you going through some 1980's looking debug menu). Activesync is pretty slick.. I'm surprised apple didn't just go with it from launch. End of the day, the Q gets a far worse rap then it deserves. Actually a pretty good "phone" - voice quality is the best of any I've had to date, especially on speaker phone and the RF is better then the E815. It' makes calls in places that the v710/e815 and razr won't. -d |
