Who are the metro's with the cool living rooms/dens?

I'm trying to figure out lighting and putting a more modern look to my living room. I have the old pic where I had just put everything together in the easiest but least functional form:

I've since cleaned up all the wiring and put art up on the walls, but I want to take down what art I have for something more modern. Modified to remove the top arm of the TV stand so the TV is mounted about 12" back on the stand from where it was and did some serious wire management (can't do anything for how small/babydick a tv it is )

I've flipped the room 180* and put the couch in the corner near the sliding glass, the loveseat is in the second bedroom, and I've added another single leather chair and ottoman. The TV is opposite where it was. I want to flank the TV with two endtables like so:

or cheaper: (using baskets or some storage ottoman below, or even another set of mood lamps on the floor)

Then putting lamps with low power colored lighting for use when just hanging out. I thought I saw some member who had colored lights lighting monochromatic paintings flanking the TV, and I thought that was pretty damn pimp.

Also, another thing I saw at Ikea while shopping for my boyfriend (since I gotta be gay wanting a nice place and all, might as well get that outta the way for the first few replies):

as I don't have a single ceiling fixture in the living room (so ghey). Just thought would be cool to setup in a corner to light the coffee table.

Then on the couch side, get a couple tables and lamps and a large modern BW photo or other litho to scale that wall. Not sure where I could find something like that besides a cheap rasterbation.

Any ideas? Suggestions? I want to make it look pimp and right now its cool, but has much room for improvement. I also have to seek out some speaker stands for the bose stuff.

Cliffs: Livingroom sucks, post pics of cooler livingrooms.

My living room is pretty bland since we've been working on the rest of the house (moved in 6 months ago, but I've been gone 3 of those months) so I can't really compare.

I'd replace the vertical blinds in front of the door though, although off the top of my head I can't think of what I'd replace them with (my wife does all the decorating)

you should put the tv in the corner and move the chair to the diagonal from it so there are more tv watching spots

you should post more nudes

seriously though. Your suggestion makes the most sense, but I can't deal with cornered surround setups. Everything has to be square to my ears. You wouldn't believe it by the setup in there, but I'm a bigtime audio/videophile.

Just a broke one who only has hand-me-downs

I could put the speakers on stands and move them out, but one would be in the middle of the glass door, the other on the wall, and not sure how the surrounds would work out.

Other thing: Is there anything that looks good that could "cover" the vertical blinds? like a curtain set that has more spacing between it and the wall? Or am I just nuts. I'm only here 9 more months, but still, the more I can do the happier I'll be until I own and can just tear out and do what I want (including wiring in the damn walls! )

i mention that because my apt is set up similar to that: tv in the corner, couch where yours is and elliptical where your chair is. or i should say it will be like that, roomie is moving out and most of the crap is hers, so far ive only replaced the tv although im still waiting for that b!tch to arrive

sound quality isnt a big deal to me tho i guess, never really realilzed it made that much difference. i just like more room for watching tv, plus setup like yours id have to stare at my friends ugly mugs

edit- and i personally like the blinds you have there

Your place looks almost exactly like mine. But the difference is, a woman decorated while I just sat on the couch.

Thumbs up

I have a small place, but its a nice clean look I think.

Ignore the roomba, I was just about to vacuum, its usually in the closet.

Also, the small black round table is gonna go as soon as I find a buyer.

pimp, Im right behind you with the flanking of art and hanging shelves for stuff.

Who had that damned livingroom with the lights and flanking art? I think they also had a mood light for the TV (light behind the bezel).

I think modern furniture looks cool, but it's mostly uncomfortable; therefore I will stick with the big fluffy leather couches and chairs that might look "old" but are so fvcking cumfy
