Patio furniture could be the most overpriced item ever

After a day spent looking at patio furniture I came to the stearn conclusion that apparently I'm in the WRONG business.

$4000 for a outdoor sofa? (teak/fabric, or even aluminum/fabric), teak plush padded chaise lounges for $3,200? Are you fvcking kidding me? Is that a pair? Nope, just one.

Anyway- after a long day we ended up with furniture at a great deal, but man I couldn't believe my eyes looking at a $8,500 "L" outdoor sofa that would've sat 5-6 people.

$8,500, for something bugs are going to walk all over? Apparently I'm in the wrong line of work!

Geez.

I'd have a hard time spending over 1000 for anything like that. haha.

Maybe you were looking at the wrong places. I haven't even seen regular furniture that is that expensive.

Seems the stuff is really overpriced. When I buy expensive furniture I look locally, find something I like, write down all manufacturer information and contact the NC outlets for a better price. I usually save between 50-70%.

Try http://www.furniturelandsouth.com

FWIW, We recently spent $3500 on a 130" aluminum patio table and 10 chairs.....at first I thought it was expensive but once we got it it was a decent deal. This stuff should last forever though.......

just make sure you get furniture with sunbrella fabric. That shiit lasts for a long ass time. Regular fabric deteriorates in the sun. My mom has a house in the desert and regular fabric would last about a year before coming apart. She had the cushions recovered and the sunbrella has lasted for 5 years so far and still looks great.

I got my patio furniture set for $99 from Big Lots.

Okay, it's a bistro set. But it's very, very cute. And I don't so much have a "patio" as a "balcony".

costco, expo, a half dozen "patio furniture" stores in the yellow pages, target, etc.

Not like I walked into "Dana Point Patio" or "Laguna Beach Outdoors" or something that just screamed rip off.

I have plastic chairs and a plastic table. I found them by the dumpster from a neighbor moving out.

yeah sunbrella is the ****, don't think the set we ended up w/ has it, but for the trivial amount of money we paid (less than half of ONE chair in another set we liked) I'll just get new cushions. It's going under on our covered lanai outside so sun exposure shouldn't be a huge deal as it has retractable shades to prevent direct sunlight.

Sounds odd, but try Albertsons, Ralphs, Longs, or Big Lots... I've seen the BEST deals on great outdoor furniture at these stores.

I've also seen some good deals at a store called Next Tuesday or Til Tuesday or something like that.

thanks

we ended up getting ~70% off list at home depot (running clearance on all patio furniture, and we stacked two 10% off coupons), then rented their $19.99 truck had it out for 2 hours (drank a beer w/ my neighbor after he helped me unload), didn't put any gas in it, and paid ~$23 out the door.

A great deal in a store I detest which makes it even sweeter.

I got a killer deal on a dual fuel (charcoal/gas) little travel hibachi grill at albertsons once, they didn't know the price so they sold it to me for $14.99, I've seen them for $39.99 routinely in sporting goods stores!

Target also has entire backyard "theme sets" for outdoor decor... including firepit, etc..

for under $1k (fr everything) tiki torches, EZ-up type canopy, tables, etc...
