Acura service vs Ford service

Me @ Acura: I hear a noise
Acura: Drop the car off, we'll have a loaner for you
Me: Thanks (arrives, has a complimentary Starbucks and leave in 5 minutes)
Acura: Car's fixed, no charge. Do you want it washed?

Me @ Ford: My car is making a lot of noise
Ford: drop it off
Me: OK
Ford: I don't hear anything abnormal, it's the way it's designed
Me: Designed to make noise?
Ford: It's the way it is, it's normal.

Peple wonder why nobody buys crappy domestic car's anymore.

My VW Service:

Me: I have a Emissions Workshop light on
VW: Bring it in

2 hours later phone rings

VW: Found the problem, all your glowplugs are bad.
Me: "ALL" of them?
VW: Since glowplugs are wearable item, its not covered under your special 100K bumper to bumper warranty. So to replace all 4 glowplugs will be $590, then the diagnosis since this isnt covered under warranty is $92.
Me: WTF
VW: So is it ok to go ahead and swap out the glowplugs?
Me: I will be in to pick up my car in a few

I ordered all 4 glowplugs for $60 and had them changed myself in under 1 hour...

My Acura had tons of rattles.

Sunroof. Dash (atleast 3). And some stupid suspension popping.

I'm on my 4th stang. None of which had rattle issues as bad as my acura.

Ford Service:

Took my 2003 Cobra in with 8K on the ticker with the lovely "head tick" noise.
They give me an enterprise rental car Taurus that was dented and smelt like smoke to drive for 2 weeks while they "replace the head" and the tick sounds worse than ever when I pick it up.

BMW Service:

Took my 05 MCS in for leaking coolant. They gave me a brand new (200 miles) 07 BMW 328i to drive for 5 days while they replaced the thermostat housing, which fixed the problem. Plus yes, they gave me free Starbucks, candy, car wash, etc while I was there.

What year's your mustang? if it's of the sn95 version, FORD's had 25 years to perfect it.

I'm not going to argue with you on that one. I wasn't implying that only Ford's have rattles. However, Mustangs have terrible rattle problems from my experience. Not to mention if you do suspension work and you have a rougher ride, forget about it.

I thought Ford build quality sucked until my mom bought an Eclipse. Holy sh1t is Mitsubishi a POS. The damn door and rear hatch were totally misaligned brand new. She has the car for a few years and it's got many rattles.

WOW you must either spend hundreds of dollars there or the mgr is giving it to you up the butt.

That's one in a million success stories I'm sure.

I was never a Ford hater. It's only recently that I've turned on them.

I have never had a problem with a Ford dealer service. Maybe it is just the dealer some of you are going to.

Yea, because we all know all dealers are the same and it's perfectly acceptable to compare "Ford Service" to "Acura Service".

BMW service. On a car I bought USED.

Me: About once a week, when cold the car will crank, but not start. Cycle the key and it starts right up.
Them: Bring it in.
Get to dealer: Here is your Starbucks and the keys to a 2007 525i with 200 miles on it. We'll call you when it's done.
Them: We couldn't replicate the problem. We'll keep trying.
Them a week later: We still couldn't replicate it, so we went to our database and in the past it's either been a fuel pump, control module, or injectors....so we replace all of it ($2000+ worth of work for a problem that they never actually saw). Car was professionally detailed, not a scratch or swirl on it, ice cold bottle of water in the cup holder and thank you note on the seat.

Ford service.

Me: Occasionally my heated seat won't come on.
Them: Bring it in.
Get to dealer: This shouldn't take long, would you like to wait in our 10x10 waiting room with 5 screaming kids?
Me: Nothing I'd like more.
Them: (10 min later) We hooked it up to the meter, it works fine.
Me: Are you calling me a liar? Obviously I have nothing better to do than sit here while you fix my truck.
Them: Call us to schedule after it stops working completely.
Me: (speachless) Got truck which I told them NOT to wash. The washed it with 5 pounds of play sand in the wash bucket and mineral water rinse baked in the sun.
