Apple looks like i'm never going to buy a cobra.

it's hard to find a nice freakin '03/'04 cobra. i've been to a few dealers, and either they sell the car before i decide to buy it, or they say the car is in excellent condition and is 10th anniversary and it needs a throw out bearing and is a plain old cobra (costing few thou less). but the most recent one takes the cake.

i email a dealer in 190 miles away, a 1 sentence letter asking if the '04 they are selling is stock. a few minutes later i get a phone call from the dealer, who hardly spoke english. so he tells me he received my email and he would be the one to ask about the car. so i ask him again "is the car stock?" he says "stock? can you spell stock?" i tell him "stock, is the car in factory condition, any modifications to the engine? people love to change parts in these cars" he said he would call me back. i said great, and knew what i was getting into.

he calls me half an hour later, and he says "yes! the car has the ford mustang engine in it!" haha. so he still hasnt answered my fukcing question. i ask is there anyone else i can speak to about this. no.

so since the car looks nice, i figure i'd try one more time. i copied his email address from the signature of the last email he sent me. and i send him an email with 2 pics, one pic of a stock motor, and a pic of one that was modified. a little while later i get MAILER-DAEMON letter in my inbox. lol. i give up.

I know the feeling, I drove 2 hours, each way, to look at a 'stock' 'perfect condition' fox from a dealer. I showed up and the engine looked like something out of the 70's that wasn't even firing on all cylinders, it had been rolled and repainted. Interior was falling off when you closed the door and all the moulding had been painted over. I had to really restrain myself from beating the guy especially when he starts saying, "I guarantee that all the mustangs thru these years look exactly like this from the factory!!!".

You think 03-04 cobras are bad, try to find a nice 93 Cobra.

My buddy has one of the cleanest '93 Cobra's I've ever seen and he's always talking about selling it for a truck so he can carry his Yamaha R6 around. It's Teal which is hard to find as it is. The only mods are a Flowmaster catback and off-road h-pipe.

Why are you trying the dealerships? Try looking on SVTP, or Modular Fords, or The Corral, or on local boards.

Do a search on the person's name who listed it for sale. Read all his/her posts to see if they have ever posted up anything alarming about the car.

Why in the hell would you think a salesman knows anything about identifying a modded cobra? Most salesmen are just that not enthusiasts.

How much you willing to spend?

Ok, let me specify a bit.

A clean one, in the color/condition I want for a fair price.
