Progress from the body shop as of today.

Removing all panels for proper prep

The Scot Rod Fab firewall cover is being updated to cover the wiper motor hole. We decided Rain X and the go pedal will work just fine

Bumper covers & wing off

Red, Whte, and perhaps blue hood for patriotism ?

Since were on a diet, off comes the stock bumper mount, & on goes the racing lightweight mount. Goodbye to 25lbs or so of nose weight.

She's coming back to life!

The body shop work has been progressing quickly. I'm relieved and excited at the mindset of these guys. Being on the same page while undertaking this kind of project makes me sleep better

We decided to pull out the stiff springs, to allow an easier work angle on the front end.

Factory antenna hole was blocked off, with welded plate underneath, and smoothed.

Here you can see the painstaking work of welding, sanding, grinding and filling holes & rough areas of the engine bay.

Upper radiator support is also getting cleaned up

Work on the drivers side, and fender. You would not believe the amount of ripples & dents along the tops of the fenders. NOTE never lean over your Fox fenders without thick blankets.

Rear quarter panels getting smoothed. Also rolled the fender lips properly

Drivers door needed extensive work. Thieves bent up the bottom panel, and busted out the lockset. all new tumblers for doors & trunk

More progress pictures from the body shop. These guys are doing an incredible job, and are enthusiastic about the project. That's hard to come by these days.

Hood underside painted.

Fenders ready to be squirted

Drivers door opens and closes like new.

Right rear quarter needed quite a bit of work, and huge ding above the fuel door is gone.

The stock rack & pinion BROKE while pushing the car GEO got a rack and installed it now so we can move the car around again. K member and underside will be cleaned up and repainted too.

Car is scheduled for paint coming up shortly. 8.8 rear end is getting built this week, with all kinds of goodies, so stay tuned.

While the car is being finalized for paint, Geo tore down the 8.8 housing, and installed the heavy duty goodies.

Donor from 1998 GT

Housing bushings cleaned out

Bushing shrapnel !

Free from the stock Trac-loc and 3:27 cogs, cleaned & awaiting a new cog

Gun owners should .appreciate this. Geo used numerous passes with brake clean soaked rags to insure the inner tubes were free from old lube & contamination. Numerous passes until the rags came through with ZERO dirt.

New bearings

Paint work is complete! Wetsanding and buffing, and final tweaks commencing this week, then she is back to the shop for wiring and the reconstruction.

Its the fiberglass. We decided to paint it black, to offset all the white, and to hide dirt chips etc.

I like that look... I was thinking of something similar when I paint my Cervini hood just to hide any dirt that may come up.

Lots of progress since coming back from paint. The painstaking process of re-wiring and modifiying the entire cars electronic wiring is nearly complete.

A new windshield was in order, so we took care of that.

SCRATCH THE PAINT AND I WILL KILL YOU!!

Old, dingy, and faded.

Prepped and squirted

Although the quarter windows were redone, we wanted all trim to match perfectly

Special glue flown in from the LaBrea tar pits

Coming together!

Removal, restoring, and re installing is a bit of an art form, since you have to be extremely careful not to bend them, or break the clips .

Also, trial and error has found the CORRECT paint that provides a factory finish, without excessive gloss, yet holds up years longer than O.E.

Looks great. Fresh trim goes SO far in making the car come together.
I did the cowl, mirrors and top well trim on my car a while back and it instantly updates the whole car.

More work on restoring the window moldings and trim pieces.

Tore off the old back window tint, and removed the old glue ( about as much fun as a trip to the dentist!) Also clay bar treated the inside and out, which removed years of hard water spots and debris.

Passenger side process was the same as previous, however we decided the inner portion of the B pillar needed some TLC in black.

Done. Drivers side got the same treatment shortly after

Quarter window

Some salvage yard serching rewarded us with door hrnesses, a complete steering column, and a couple of other goodies. Spare steeering wheel is being sent out for restoration & wrap.

The next point goes for ANYONE who has ever rewired a car, this is like Frankenstein coming to life.
WE HAVE POWER!!!!

Truth.

I bought all new trim and did the qtr windows on the fox. Mine were in rough shape, and it was a pain getting the 1/4's out. So happy with the trim though, it makes a huge difference.

Looks great Fred.

I used Duplicolor trim paint... comes in a spray can. **** came out spectacular. I been using it on most anything I want black now. Even used it to black out the chrome window trims on my Pontiac G8. Came out tits and you really cant beat it for 6 bucks a can.
Here's my mirror...

The trim work is about 90% complete. We may replace the door belt moldings, or try a different base coat/top coat methond, ans the originals were in pretty rough shape.
New door lock actuators, lock cylinders, and door handles installed. The factory pop rivets them in, but this method can lead to the handle contacting the door skin. We bolted them in instead. Straight and clean.

Finished. Also LRS hooked us up with all new door seals, run channels, and weatherstripping. Doors work better than NEW!

Tailight assemblies got buffed and polished
BEFORE

AFTER

After some thought, we dcided to shoot the license plate and tailight panel in black.

Quick hand drawn vanity plate! THE FURY II

Now to the Headlights. Long story short, the hardware assemblies needed some modifications and drilling, but GEO got everything in, weather sealed, and better than new.

Had to drill for proper depth and diameter

Still some aligning to do, but after the headlight bulbs come in.

Time to overhaul the HVAC system. Out comes the heater box/blower motor assembly
Out of the dash

The behemoth

New vs Old

Installed

We were talking door handles. OE are riveted on, and you can see here how this method puts the handle too close to the door skin, leading to contact. GEO installed the new set with bolts.

Coming off

The right way

Drivers door finished
