I know a lot of these people because of the aquariums, they are in full panic mode. I deal directly with a customer on a board of a Boston high rise (owners) and they're fully on panic mode. I have customers who run 50k sq/ft call centers and they've gone entirely remote, works fine and they're talking about downsizing their physical presence. What do you do when your monthly expenses are in the millions and nothing is coming in for a year plus.

The people with money who can work remote are "lock it down, I'm good forever at home" and then there is everyone else

So you sold all your shyt, will you be buying it all back pennies on the dollar in a year or two?

My parents did that in the 2008 recession, they sold their house and downsized their primary residence in 2007 and built their retirement/lake house. Then in 2009 they got a chance to buy their old house back from foreclosure auction for less than half of what they sold it for. So they bought it back and rented out the downsized house.

I have two more I’m unloading. One rental and one vacation spot we haven’t been using much since we pumped two kids out. One will be listed next week the last in a month or so.

I posted this somewhere else in here too but Im noticing people selling their current home at a premium because the market is hot but then upsizing into something even bigger and better because they just made bank on their sale. Of course paying a premium for the new place too. It’s hard to poo pop on your friend’s parade but **** I hope some of the people close to me doing this aren’t gonna get fvcked in the ass in the next year or two.

My dad had no masterplan, but he had been complaining about how much he missed his old neighbors and then saw it going up for foreclosure auction was like "honey we are moving back".

I've got a couple of friends who've done the same recently, there is no talking to them though. I was straight up "you're being dumb" but whatever. Best case they can afford to be grossly upside-down forever in a bigger better house. Worse case they're unprepared and they lose their shirt on it. In my friends case they're not rich... In fact one particular friend owns a chain business that has been shut down for 8 months... but that PPP bruh (which, he's in for a rude awakening when he has to account for his PPP spending.

I tried to explain to my pals yes the house they're selling is grossly overvalued which is good, but anything new/competitive they're buying is also grossly overvalued. The before mentioned friend sold a house for 500 he bought for 250 4 years ago. Walked away with roughly 200 and change, now buying a million dollar house. Which again, if you're doing well enough where that mortgage payment is on auto pilot forever and you don't care about being upside-down fine. I personally wouldn't do it, especially with a business currently illegal to operate. It isn't just that the market is due for some correction (it was inflated before corona)... Now it is not only due for a correction, but it has external forces (covid) forcing it into turbo inflation mode with the floor potentially falling out. 500k houses selling for 800-1M. Again, it is framed like a competitive/strong market but it is falsely/artificially competitive.

I might pick up some things when they are giving them away again. I missed out on a lot of deals early in the year before C19 hit. but oh well. i already got the best deals when obama was in office and people were in the breadline.. (change)

i ended up picking up a big farm, moving to it next week... seemed to get a pretty good deal on it.. from new ones hitting the market i'm already up 500k easy.

hoping to just stay on the farm full time and not have to leave much. ride my horse around watching my half million in cattle graze.

The seats thing is because they don't know if they have been in a crash, which I get. But, a donated seat where they signed off that it wasn't in a crash is better than nothing. We ended up giving seats, strollers, etc to friends and kids of neighbors.

Him: we're home alone, your aunt and I both have covid. me: uhhh, are you okay? Him: well your aunt wasn't feeling well 2 weeks ago so got tested, she had it... then I got tested a few days later and I have it. Aside from her not feeling well for 2 days we're fine, I had no symptoms.
