I’m essential. I never stopped. However, I was working from home already by chance when they did the shutdown. Then for scheduling reasons I started reporting back late May. I split time as needed now.

Pig, so I'm essential. I'm really loving the OT from the protests and shutdowns though.

Let's see what November brings. If Dems win (not happening), this bullshit will disappear with the quickness. If Trump wins, get ready for the long haul.

I was off work the first 3 months of this year after a knee replacement. End of March when I was scheduled to return to work, the HR guy said, "sorry we just shut down all maintenance and laid off 600 guys. We can't bring you back right now. I'll call you soon".

I'm still waiting for that call.

There's nothing happening at "the plant" as far as maintenance goes. It's still running at 100%+ capacity, They're just not fixing anything. So unless it blows up like a fireworks warehouse in Beirut, it will be 2021 before I see that place again.

I was planning to retire in October anyway

They aren't even throwing out possible return dates anymore, just told us to "get comfortable at home". Not even sure why any companies would lease expensive office space in DTLA after this tbh.

We just opened a site downtown starting 5/1, don't think anyone has been in there since they set up the fiber and did the occupancy punch list though. Client requires us to have a physical presence, and a hard address, no cowork space.

We're letting staff onsite if they need to use the plotters/etc, but we're capped at 50% occupancy unless local guidelines are lower (I think STL is 25% now). It's only the old people (who we told to stay home), and managers babysitting interns and new hires that are really going in. All my staff are remote, my office is basically just a package drop/pickup point now, I go in once a week for a half day if I go at all.

Never stopped. I work in a small remote office for my company. Few of my co-workers worked from home for a month or so. Our corporate office is back to 90% staffed.

I was really hoping that all this telecommuting would stick and really knock down traffic on the 405 permanently. The commute has been very pleasant until recently. The 14 and 405 were a parking lot for most of my drive this morning. Thank God for lane splitting.

You never told me you'd be commuting on a bike; I assumed you'd be in a car. No wonder you weren't very concerned with commute times.

I was definitely planning to commute on bike. Commute times in the car aren’t an issue if I leave the house at 4:30am and leave LAX by 2pm. When I can’t do those times, I take the bike.

During the shut down, I’ve been able to take the car pretty much any time of day, but since the 4th of July, traffic has pretty much gone back to normal.

Lane splitting is the sh1t. Although I did have to ride through the Elsmere fire on Tuesday. That was crazy with flames across the right lanes and burning debris landing everywhere as I crossed while holding my breath.

I can tell it's getting back to "normal" by the traffic around town lately. I am planning on driving in to work to grab my monitors and some office supplies. My strategy is to wait until about noon to make the drive, then head for home no later than 2.

If they do call us back into the office and it takes me longer than an hour to commute either way, I'll be back on the Metrolink / subways.

Never stopped working. Being in IT working from home became the norm but no reduction in actual work.

Go onsite on occasion for installs and moves, but being able to work from home in the new place has been pretty sweet.

I'm e-essential.

Been WFH since March 15th and the earliest we are going to be 'invited' back to office is 1/1/21, at that time only 50% of employees are going to be asked to return, the other 50% will WFH permanently. The 50% that go back to office are going to work a staggered schedule of 1 week in the office and 1 week WFH. I am the 50% WFH permanently, never have to return. A lot of financial companies are going this route especially in the NYC/NNJ area, they don't want their employees on public transportation.

Oh, and by the way, NYC is a complete sh!thole right now due to de Blasio and Cuomo, it's ashame. These two fvcking idiots took the biggest and best city in the world and ran it into the ground in a matter of 5 months. Wealthy moving out, businesses moving out or going out of business, etc. Thanks Libtards!
