Time for a new distributor
So I am in need of a new distributor for my 94. Any suggestions on a good brand? Should I just go for stock? I've been looking at an MSD unit for the longest time, but now I'm interested in this one as well- http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...ed-Distributor But do I even have a roller camshaft since the engine is stock?

nothing is better then stock
i have a msd that is sitting on the shelf... to get it to work reliably i had to replace both the pickup and tfi with a motorcraft. i also had to mill the end of the shaft and then clean it up on a lathe since it was 1/8" too long and started the mushroom at the hex end yes you have a roller cam

as long as the end play and side to side movement is in spec the reman unit should be ok. ideally you want a motorcraft pickup and tfi on it but the unit itself should be ok

What issues were you having or what led you to believe you needed a new dizzy? I'm asking for my knowledge and future reference.
and the dealer no longer can get a motorcraft dizzy either?

Just be on the lookput for a bad stator if you have any issues with the engine dying after it warms up and won't restart....until the car cools off and then will restart no problem. If it does this the stator in in the distributor is bunk. I know because I had this happen with a reman piece I purchased when my distributor in my old fox went bad. Replaced it only to find the problem was never resolved because the stator in the new one was bad as well.
Bought a completely new one with all new oem parts and it worked like a charm. Just a heads up. |

My experience with aftermarket distributors has been bad.
Another vote for a stock reman. |
