wtf is this noise!!!! - Mustang Forum

Heres a clip of the noise im having only if i rev the car. I cant hear it when the cars under load/driving. If i rev it from 850 to 1500 rpm I get the most fu#$ up noise. Car runs good,and has oil presure. Please point me in the right direction

i would drop the oil and look for glitter, then cut the filter open. if there is nothing the valve covers would be off next followed by the timing cover

what is the oil pressure cold and hot, does it rise with rpm?

I've pulled the valve cover off yesterday and everything looks fine. The oil looks good and if I remove the oil cap I can see Oil squirting on top of the rockers. The sound comes directly under the intake it seems. Also oil pressure is 45ish and when I get on it ..the psi fluctuates fast up and down between like 35 to 45.

stock lifters? if the covers are stil off yank the harness of the distributor and have someone crank it over while you watch the valves open and close. you might have ate a lifter or a cam lobe

noise like that and no smoking gun you will have to start taking it apart

Stock lifters.....

pedestal mount roller rockers,stock push rods.

I know you said it sounds like a top end noise but it sounds like a rod knock from the vid to me...

Wouldnt a rod knock get louder as I drove also be a constant noise rather than momentarily. Doesnt make any noise when im driving around. Its a high noise...but I could be wrong but ill post a
better vid...fricking cars to dam loud

Hard to tell until you tear into it, but one of my motor combo's made a similar noise.
Turned out to be excessive piston to wall clearance.. piston slap.

do any trans work recently? a loose flexplate will make a knocking sound

Possibly not, it's under a load when you're driving it vs free revving it

Get a long pry bar and start listening around

Or start pulling spark plugs to cancel cylinders and repeat, see if the sound changes with any one cylinder

I was told from the man at CROWER after he heard the car today said right away (CAM SHAFT BUSHINGS/BEARINGS) He says my cam is walking

Has anyone seen this before or heard of it before?

THE NOISE IS GONE....THANK GOD. ALL I DO WAS CHANGE THE OIL (5W20) NEW FILTER AND NO NOISE AT ALL. LAST OIL CHANGE I USE 10W30

BUT NOW ITS ALL GOOD.WILL POST VIDEO(SORRY FOR CAPS)

What rocker arms are you using? They could be hitting the valve covers.

If it was knocking with 10w30, something's still wrong.

It was the Lifters.......

change them out with some Ford Racing push rods and lifters. No noise
