Need help please! - engine running bad
Hello Everyone, it's been a long time since I've posted on here but glad to see people are still active.
I have a 95' Mustang GT with GT40 crate motor. #30 fuel injectors, MAF sensor, and had the car custom tuned w/chip not too long ago. The car has been running better than ever. I recently drove it from Illinois to Michigan. Everything running great but the AC stopped blowing cold air so I took it in to be re-charged and the tech needed to replace a cap near the line and re-charged the system. When I picked up the car and started it, it immediately started shaking (very badly). The tech said it is coincidental that this this is happening after the AC repair and there is nothing they can do. They checked the AC compressor and that's not bogging anything down. It's really not driveable. I ordered an OBD1 reader as they didn't have one. Any thoughts or suggestions? This out of state mechanic really doesn't want to help as the car has been modified and this issue happened when it was in their hands! The only other item to add is that the oil was recently changed and is running a bit high - not sure if that has an impact. |

Unplug the MAF sensor while running, and see if it clears up. If so, most likely MAF issue.
If oil was overfilled greatly, yes that can affect the car.

Thank you. I pulled out the MAF sensor and cleaned it with MAF cleaner. That worked but the issue came back. Might be a bad sensor to just ordered a new one. Thanks and will let u know if that works.

Well....installed new MAF sensor and didn’t do the trick. Also installed new EGR valve and it was better after first start and then came back after second and subsequent starts. Have tried pulling the chip out and also no luck.
There seems to be a little too much oil. Going to try and drain some out. After that, I’m at a loss on what to do next. |

ACK ! Do NOT start and run the car anymore. That is the harmonic balancer/dampner. Very common for the rubber bonding material to dry out and give up after age and heat. Just order a new one off of Rock Auto, and a new crank bolt. You should be golden after that.

This
https://www.dormanproducts.com/p-20118-594-024.aspx It's a Dorman part, so you could find it locally. Replace the crank bolt and seal just as a cheap insurance as well
