I had a SQ next to them also, but i was too lazy to take the bracket off it. I still lurk around here and there.... One drain and one feed underneath.

Flows enough for Kurgan to go 7's which is faster than i wanna (afford to) go

I am trying to find what I will need to run 8-9's in a roadster

Any ideas where to look? I was going to check the NHRA guide but I dont want to buy it if it doesnt have information for roadsters/topless cars.

yep, i have no desire to go faster than what you can run on a regular 8 point bar (10.99? ).. anything after that and its not a street car anymore

cage specifics change with et and mph. anything over 135 you also need a chute, specific clothing, etc. the rules change all the time for what is certified for what. you can download the rulebook in pdf format from the nhra site

we have the reverse here.. there is a guy running a full tub/backhalf'd el camino, massive cowl, and HUGE hoosier slicks.. runs 14.5s all day long

there are a few sleepers, but not many..

i was kinda toying with the idea of putting a stock hood on mine and tucking the fuel pump up a bit higher to hide it, but i dunno yet

Theres not that many 8sec streeters around here >> There are plenty of 8 sec guys who will bring the car to a car show or meet a couple times a year though. Oldhead only one who drives an 8sec car to the track all the time lol Guys like me, vinny, wazslow etc.. put maybe 2000-3000 miles a year on our streeters. >>

The NHRA 135mph chute rule has been talked about for years now, (2003 it originally was supposed to change.) and supposedly in 09 they are going to start enforcing it. 135mph is a good starting point for chutes I think, especially those with stock brakes... I usually only pull it above 145 but a couple times at short tracks I sure didnt know if id make the last turnoff! I dont think many local tracks will break balls about it though on a test and tune or street night. Its only when there is a big event (sanctioning body race) that you will see them being strict about it. Mine as well bite the bullet at that point though, you might be satisfied with 135 now but then that gets boring and you'll want 155!!

It isnt cheap at all but it is relatively easy these days to have a 8-9sec streetcar that you can put a thousands of miles a year on.

And Capri Mike - everyone says N/A with a Hit ...until they drive a blower/turbo car!!! Same motor was in mine for a few years now before changing things. And not because anything broke, im still using the same exact shortblock/intake and not freshening just new heads and a couple little bolt on's lol

There are a lot of very fast street cars here in Chicago and some of the coin spent on them is unbelievable.
I figure I will have an advantage. I am starting with a car that weighs 2200lbs.

Problem is it is only a 2 seater and I want to street drive the hell out of it but I dont want to have to crawl through a jungle gym every time I get in and out. I am for safety but its one thing if it hinders the enjoyment of the car.

Oh I know I've driven his car a couple times...it's nasty for sure...

It just seems as if the blower car guys always have a ton of excuses... :-)
Belt slippage/breakage, heat soak, flexing brackets blah blah blah!

Its all in good fun, everyone in this post has a sweet mustang (and lone capri ) that is a ton of fun to drive. Its just me and modo's choice to use a better power adder than the N/A /nitrous/turbo guys !!!
