yup...trying to idle with 72lb/hr injectors and the top down tends to produce a lot of eye watering...heh...thanks mang.

There shouldn't be any fuel smell issues. Did you ever get the drivability data logged and tuned (fuel/spark tables, etc)? You'd be surprised how many tuners think a 'full tune' only involves a WOT blast on the dyno.

the mustang was sponsored by AEM and runs their stand-alone EFI system, tuned by scott armish, the engineer who developed their tuning software, and who is now working for edelbrock designing their pro-flo XT EFI system.

the car has excellent streetability. i just figured it was the tradeoff for being able to support the fuel needs at high-rpms. trying to get such a small pulse-width with 72lb/hr injectors at idle is kinda like trying to drink from a fire hose. with the top up i don't have a problem, but you don't drive a vert in socal with the top up.

Ah, true. That's where the tuning issue lies. Injectors are either on or off, so the short pulse timing makes idle tuning a nightmare (like you said.)

yup...scott did an excellent job keeping the street manners. starts up fine, idles great, stop and go in traffic no problem. he had the car for several days at AEM, and then fine tuned again a 2nd time. getting rid of the mass air system helped out a lot. we're also running a big weldon fuel pump so there's a lot of fuel flowing. he even wanted me to go to 82lb/hr and change out the pulley on the D1SC blower because the duty cycle on the 72s was getting up there, but i said no.
