Project 1991 gt

What's going on 5.0 section? I'm usually one of the typical clubhouse trolls and rarely post in here. Cream Puff once thought it was necessary to take me abilities to view the section, glad that is all behind us now. A good buddy of mine happened to get me on the subject of project cars and mentioned a friend of his who is also in the Air Force had a 91 gt that they thought about selling cheap. Well, I asked him to find out some details for me and he did. It sparked my attention and I decided to take a look at it. He warned me that it had been previously hit on the right front corner of the car and the panels had been replaced along with a brand new six piece head light kit. He also told me that the interior was trashed. He made sure he emphasized this to my buddy so I didn't get my hopes up too much.

So the day comes that I am able to get out of class a little early and take a look at my future project car. I stop and pick up my friend since he knows the gentleman and we're off. I get there and the car is in the driveway. Nothing special but it was love at first sight. I look over the car and notice it has a new front clip, new headlights and a junkyard, strawberry red right front fender. The car is a sunroof car :crying: but I am willing to look over that. Things I first noticed that the car had: BBK long tube headers, BBK X-pipe, BBK sub frame connectors, M/T streets, an edlebrock manifold, BBK 75mm throttle body, full msd ignition system, moroso CAI, a full set of chrome pony wheels, a new tremmic transmission, installed king cobra cluth & flywheel, a extra centerforce cluth/flywheel, 3.73 gears. The driver side side seat has two small rips in it, the lower steering column trim piece is removed but in the back seat for some reason, drive side door panel pockets are very loose, ashtray door broken, ps door panel pockets very loose (all very common to these cars.) center console latch broken. The back seats look like they never been sat in. Interior is black. The speedometer bounces back and fourth so I am guessing it's a broken cable. I was very impressed with the car and it's the best thousand dollars I have ever spent.

I am by no means a mechanic but I have unlimited access to information and about 15 lifts to do my work on. I'm going to try and do as much work myself but I am going to leave majority of the body work to the pros. Talked to one of our go to body shops and I will have roughly 4-5 hundred dollars with replacing the radiator support (me buying the parts) and time on the frame machine.

I am in the process of tearing it down to fix the car correctly. The radiator support is in really bad shape and it has a very small kink in the passenger side frame rail right under the strut tower. Enough with my blabber, and time for some pictures.

I am very open to suggestions/tips/criticism for this fixer upper.

i think late model restoration has a core support and apron replacements you will need to cut out the spot welds and find someone with a frame machine looks like it took a pretty bad hit to the front end..prob end up costing you more than its worth in my opinion ...

now that you belong in here you'll be happy we keep the clubhouse retards at bay.. car looks to be in reasonable shape tho

also check back where the front frame rails meet the firewall, i bought a notch before i got my red car that had been tapped in the front, at first glance looked not as bad as your car.. but the frame was pushed back into/through the firewall.. couldnt use the car at all

I had bought an 88 hatch the same way about 5 or 6 years ago. I just ended up cleaning it up and moving it.

Hmmm... I can't really see any damage at the firewall but there again, I am no body shop man. Fvck I thought I may have had a good starter car.

Have a body guy look at it and see what he can do. Maybe it can be an easy fix.

Well, cream puff, you were right to an extent. Car does have a little bit of damage that was not noticed at first. I'm not going to deal with it. I'm now going to part the car out. If anybody is interested in anything, pm me.

Sorry to hear man It is probably the right thing to do. If I find any frame damage on mine I will sell myself.

Put it back together. If it is running I am sure someone would buy it for at least 2K

not many people look in that spot, you can probably get your money back selling it whole.. parting it out would do decent too.. but its a lot more work.

or IMO hang onto it until you find another one.. combine the 2 cars nicest parts to make one really clean car.. then put all the 'extra' parts back into this one, and sell it that way

A guy just called about it. Wasn't up 30 minutes and he's clearing his schedule for this weekend the way it sits.

Maple...There is a 99 Cobra vert for sale local to me with 81k on the clock. It is white with a white top, lowered, 03 cobra wheels, bassani exhaust, k&n cold air, shifter, in real nice shape. The air is not working is the only problem it says it has. Clean title. Dude is asking $7k and I think it could be bought for $6-6.5k. Let me know if you are interested and I can get the number for you.

Yeah man, on a unibody car, the radiator support can't really be hit that hard without tweaking the entire car.
Part it out on ebay.
