My problem with 4r70W trannies?
I've been trying to get some feedback as to how they behave, and how big a pain in the ass they are to add to a vehicle not originally equipped (in the ECM department) with one. I have two suppliers for a tranny control computer (Baumann and some other schmoe), however, while several people have claimed to have installed these computers, as with several thousand examples, nobody hardly ever bothers to actually show their work as to how they got from 'arriving today' to 'driving today'....and if you ask them questions, they reply with 'well, I just did it'....I'd like to toss a 4R70W into my '92 T-bird 5.0, as I'm a bit sick of the AOD that's in it....but I've not found a single, reliable contact outside of either Baumann or that other schmoe to get some feedback as to how the finished product turned out. Oh well, rant off.

That's why it's called 'hot rodding' ![]() If I were you, I would "just do it". If you have the tools and equipment, mock up everything and see what works and what doesn't, i.e., mounts and lines. Also, since it's a 5.0 I would use a Mustang ECM and call up Baumann to see if they can give any advice. Best of luck.
