Fuel pump = dead on 2000 GT

Hey guys, fuel pump just died about 6 blocks from my house the other day. Gotta love pushing your car all the way home. What should I expect a new one with install to cost ? Shops here in kansas seem to suck ass, but I have to get it fixed. I can do basic stuff on the car (oil change is about as far as ive done) but I have no idea where to begin on a fuelpump.

Thx for the help fellas -

Josh C

Gotta drop the tank. Also, you might as well replace that 110lph with a intake 255lph. They are practically the same price, and the additional fuel will help with mods in the future.

Yeah, that's the worst part is dropping the tank. Just get out as much fuel as you can prior to dropping it, trust me....

Get the whole fuel pump assembly, not just the pump. (I was losing voltage through the old wiring harness resulting in low pressure and a poorly running car) No fun dropping the tank a second time. Change out the sending unit also. A decent shop would charge upwards or $500, plus the tow.....

Really not too bad if you got an afternoon. I knew nothing of doing it and had a ford mechanic frnd do it as I helped. Really surprised it was as easy. Just time consuming. My focus pump is going in on Sunday...paid 179.00 for mine on sale. 99GT281's asking price is good...should get it. You won't need the sending unit or bucket.

SVT focus pump is good.. I ran a Ford GT pump in my 01.. Simple install never had an issue with it

If you do this yourself, be very careful, you'll need to lower it down a bit as you loosen straps then slide tank toward drivers side to clear the filler neck without damaging it - may want to use a floor jack with a board on it to hold it up while you maneuver it
