275 40 17 is actually a bit small for a 10" wheel.

yeah, i'd go a bit wider actually. is it truely a 10" rim? most 17" rims are 10.5" not 10", and if it is actually 10.5" you should be running a 315/35/17 tire. in addition to it having the same amount of buldge as a 245/45/17 on a stock rim (assuming you're still running a factory sized rim up front), the overall tire hight is 100% the same.
