bar "dj's"

What's the point of turntables when you're playing straight from your laptop?...seriously?

Because the turn tables directly interact with the computer.

This.

The vinyl on the turntables are blank grooved so even though the song is on the lap top, you control all the sound with the turntable as if you had the song on the vinyl itself.

True, but I NEVER see a bar DJ doing anything but selecting music. Doesn't touch the tables.

That was this guy..never touched the tables. I can see now how it'd be useful for a quality dj though.

im sure there are multiple djs that play at the same place... some might use the tt /cds with the timecodes and other might use midi controller. most bars / clubs have house gear

There are more DJs out there that suck and don't know what they are doing than there are quality DJs. It's kind of like photography...people think that just because they have the right equipment they are automatically badass.

At the same time, some of the best DJs I have seen don't have all the bells and whistles and can mix like crazy.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of below average DJs with insane ego issues.
