If you lost your job today, for how long could you go without

Another job before you were to end up in financial trouble?

Assuming I didn't get really sick or I still had health insurance, probably a couple of decades. If I move to a 3rd world country, then I could probably retire right now.

Two years at the current standard of living. Four to six years if I had to tighten up the budget.

How long with or without unemployment?

What I have in savings + an additional $600 in unemployment would stretch it out for a while..

I'd likely run down to the local best buy or microcenter and get a job before collecting though

8 months with cash on hand but if I dug into retirement funds probably a few years, close to 5.

I haven't had a "real" job since march of 09

I have been substitute teaching and went back to school to get my teaching license. Now I am hunting a full time teaching position. Not having any success so I suspect I will be subbing again this school year

Yeah, but being from Ohio - it'll come down to either them going to truck, clown, or barber college. And those are all pretty cheap.

All depends, if just what I have in my bank account (checking/savings) about 6-8 months. If using investments/bank accounts/etc. several years. I would probably sell the house and move into my parents house if I lost my job, we were planning on doing that anyway and perhaps buying my parents house.

2-3 months, then I'd have to really start pushing photography which is 'taking off.' I'm hoping to leave my current job this winter.

I'd have to sell some rental property where my money is tied up, but easily over a year.
