1) Bitcoins are not created by any central bank, nor regulated by any government. Accordingly, there are no banks logging your money movement, and government tax agencies and police cannot track your money. This is bound to change eventually, as unregulated money is a real threat to government control, taxation, and policing.

Indeed, bitcoins have become a tool for contraband trade and money laundering, precisely because of the lack of government oversight. The value of bitcoins skyrocketed in the past because wealthy criminals were purchasing bitcoins in large volumes.

4) Bitcoin transactions are irreversible. Conventional payment methods, like a credit card charge, bank draft, personal checks, or wire transfer, do have the benefit of being insured and reversible by the banks involved. In the case of bitcoins, every time bitcoins change hands and change wallets, the result is final. Simultaneously, there is no insurance protection of your bitcoin wallet: If you lose your wallet's hard drive data or even your wallet password, then your wallet's contents are gone forever.

So it's like cash but in digital format and it fluctuates like stock.

He has to be spending like $20K a month on hardware just to keep it profitable though. That difficulty is retarded.

Fvck, just reading up on when bitcoin started and it was only 0.008/coin, after 9 days it was at 0.08/coin, if you bought $100 work at .08 you'd have $7.5M. Some people did just that, even picking up $50 at .008 would be $37.5M!

I'd be honestly surprised if that dunce had even just one whole coin. I'm guessing he's rubbing his hands together, imagining the vast riches that his 0.4 coin holding will one day afford him.

Winklevoss Twins’ Bitcoin Investment Already Worth More Than $1 Billion

Looks like they made it there another way

"The Winklevoss twins claimed that they first learned about the oldest digital currency in 2012. In 2013, they announced that they had purchased one percent of the total supply (120,000 BTC) of Bitcoin at the time. In late 2013, the twins stated in an interview that they did not sell any of their Bitcoins and they keep their wallets in different safes around the world on universal serial bus (USB) drives."

I'd sell right now if I were them, sure, could run up to 25,000 but they already have a billion.

True, they could have ~20k coins stashed around the house.

The article is referencing 1% of a 100 billion market cap though, in a market where the supply has increased since 2013.

You are correct, however twins never stated an exact figure. In addition you need to factor in bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold to your equation which still makes it #fakenews, but close.

Amazon just bought three domain names related to cryptocurrency

Amazon has registered three new cryptocurrency-related domains, according to trade publication DomainNameWire.

The domains are amazonethereum.com, amazoncryptocurrency.com, amazoncryptocurrencies.com.

Amazon already owns the "amazonbitcoin.com" domain name, according to Coindesk.
