Car Shows

Mustang Wings and Wheels show at Santa
Monica Airport, CA

It was a great show with "Eleanor" the Shelby GT 500 from the movie "Gone In 60 Seconds". This was one of 10 cars built for the movie. Total cost to build the cars was $800,000 dollars. This car is one of 6 that still remain. It was used in the LA river chase scene. In the movie the speed was shown as 160 MPH but the car never went over 130. Even though Nick Cage was shown driving a stick, this car was an auto.

The cars were built and owned by Cinema Vehicle Services, North Hollywood, CA. During the movie the side exhaust was non-functional along with the gas cap, now they are functional on the remaining 6 cars. The cars are not real Shelbys, and they are fairly stock motored. The most powerful car was a 351 at about 400 horse power. The 351 was used for the high speed river chase scene. The Producer also brought out the original 1974 Elenor form the first Gone In 60 Seconds too.

Camee and Christi Edelbrock were also there signing autographs and Camee brought her 94 5.0. She is also a member of Beach Cities Mustang Club.

Jay Leno was at the airport and brought by his Mustang engine powered car. He used a P-51 Mustang, Rolls Royce V-12 engine.

It was a great show and all Southern California Mustang enthusists are well come to join us next year. We had over 150 cars and 3 P-51s this year. Contact the Beach Cities Mustang Club at www.bcmc.net for more information.
