Select Stangs
Scott's 00 GT
I've modified the engine somewhat and the suspension completely, after learning the true meaning of excessive understeer and four-link Mustang "rear steer" on the roads where I live. Apex Motorsports did all the work and was a pleasure to deal with (http://www.apexmotorsports.net/).
Interior mod was the replacement of the stock seat with a Recaro in matching leather. I live on twisty roads and was all over the car in the stock seat. Engine/exhaust modifications include a Superchip, K&N, underdrive pulleys, Bassani X-pipe, and Flowmasters.
Suspension modifications include Tokico adjustable shocks: 350 lb coilover on the front and shock and 300 lb spring on rear. Rear panhard par and torque arm from Griggs Racing (http://www.griggsracing.com/); the upper control arms are removed. In front the K member is replaced with a lighter tubular one from Griggs Racing with tubular control arms, Maximum Motorsports caster/camber plates, and a bump steer kit. The battery was moved to the rear to make room for an Amsoil oil bypass filter setup. The suspension changes and battery move take about 85 lb off the front end.
The overall result is a Mustang that costs less than a Cobra, with slightly less horsepower and much better handling. The change in turning was apparent even as I left the Apex lot for the first time. This car has neutral cornering, becoming slight oversteer when pushed. The front tires never squeal. Not shown in the photos are
the classic style side scoops, which I think look better and less fake
than the standard ones. The road shot is my daily drive to work, and
why I need to make my car turn.
