John O'Neill's
92 5.0
My car is a 1992 Limited Edition Mustang convertible with only 29,000 beautiful weather only miles! It has never been driven in bad weather and remains in "as new" condition, appearance wise. It appears stock but has been fortified with aftermarket speed equipment. I conceived this car as the ultimate sleeper. Who would expect a heavy, stock appearing convertible to go faster than a Viper down the 1/4 mile? It posted 436 rear wheel horsepower and 397 ft. lbs. torque last Spring on the dyno at the Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA. These numbers were accomplished with emissions legal components including the camshaft (E-303) and full exhaust system (shorty headers, high flow catalytic H-pipe and Dynomax cat back.) I haven't had it to the track yet since the blower installation but it ran 13.2 @ 104 m.p.h. at 75-80 dragway in Monrovia, MD a couple of years ago. That track has a reputation for being uphill, too. At that point, the dyno readings were 278 rear wheel horspower and 320 ft. lbs. of torque. Needless to say, it is much faster now and should go 11's this season. Smoothly, cleanly and quietly!
