Take the flashlight test before installing :-)
When you get these in the mail they might appear like regular normal non-reflective inserts. You might feel like you were duped and just got the regular $10 ones instead of the special "reflective" versions.

We suggest you take the flashlight test before installing. Take them into a completely dark room at night. Set up the inserts on a nightstand or table (facing you). Then take a flashlight and shine it at them checking for the effect as you stand perpendicular to the inserts and also at different angles. Shine the flashlight close to and away from your viewing position.

Black, Red, Yellow, white and Blue reflect as a white at night with direct light.

Those bumper inserts will reflect at night ? Yeah right (we thought)...
We found it hard to believe that black bumper inserts would actually be reflective. Aside from being thicker than a normal insert they didn't look reflective at all during the day.

Note: The white inserts have a slight silverish metallic look to them, the black inserts look glossy black with no metallic look to them.

Later on that night...

but cool for those that want this effect. Brighter the light, brighter the reflection.

We were amazed :-)
Low and behold, the SAME bumper inserts at night under camera flash indeed reflected light brighter than our white painted stang did. Under regular conditions they reflect like a modern stop sign does.

Again, those are black bumper inserts not white ones, reflecting at night. The white ones reflect similar.

Subtle night time effect, not " lit up " all the time...
Under normal driving at night, they have a nice glimmer effect, they are not totally lit up like a flash bulb does in the sample above all the time.

The "lit up" effect comes at certain angles depending on the light. They go back to black or regular white (depending on which color you have) at night depending on light angle. It's a nice effect. The photos here were just to show the "max effect" under camera flash.

Again, they do not self-illuminate or turn white at night, but reflect according to the brightness of the light source. We took a weak flashlight out and stood way back and they reflected ! We squatted down and saw the effect nicely. The camera flash really lit them up however :-)

We just added Reflective Red, Blue and Yellow to the color list. To inquire about other colors you can email us at speedshop@mustangworld.com. As you might have noticed, these cost more than a regular insert, but the effect is very cool.
